You can but it's easier to call Microsoft and have them remove it for you. I had mine on there and it auto-renewed and I didn't have any money on it so now it's suspended.

My friend did this and bought a 1 Month and it said he couldn't remove it so he called Microsoft, and they said the same so he got 2 Extra months,
