It has to be a wired xbox controller.
You need a usb port on your pc.
I would recommend it because using a keyboard can get a little bit annoying after about 1 or 2 hours of playing.
It will be a more enjoyable experience for you. 8)

Wow...I can't believe someone would ask this.
Why would you EVER think of using a controller on a PC platform? That's like putting a Toyota engine in a Ferrari shell.
...It's just wrong.
You'll also be at a HUGE disadvantage due to a mouse being far more superior in aiming that some clunky controller.
Obviously PC is not for you.
Go back to your outdated 7 year old Xbox.

I use my controller for games like GTA but there no good for competitive shooters. If you just plug a wired controller in Windows will install the drivers automatically.
