The smudging itself is really well done. But, there is no blending. I would suggest adding some other effects in to work with your smudge techniques to blend the focal in. Some splatter brushes and clipping masks would work nicely on something like this. You need a more clearly defined light source. The image has such harsh lighting on it with no source of the light anywhere that it makes it seem very out of place. Almost like its pasted on a background, which obviously you didn't do. Work on the depth also, blur the background out a little bit so that your focal pops more. I see some little specs in random places also, was that intentional? It makes it look kinda lq imo. You should use something that looks more like sparks, since your bg looks kinda like fire. It would fit in better. Something with the back arm/hand looks off, like you smudged it on accident or something. Not really sure, but it looks odd to me. Anyways, just trying to help. I think this could be a really awesome piece if you kept up with it. Feel free to pm me if you want any more suggestions.
