When it's in a bottle it has no oxygen so it becomes stale

its because of the fact that water can actually go bad, residue from the internal plastic of the water bottle and bottom of the cap actually leak into and contaminate the water itself. And the fact that some minerals have a chemical reaction when mixed with other materials like the plastic that comes off the inner bottle
