Game Information
Release Date: November 20, 2007
Developed By: Harmonix, MTV Games, Electronic Arts
Genre: Rhythm Game
Platform: Xbox 360, Play Station 3, Play Station 2, Wii
Age Restrictions: T, 12+
Synopsis:
Rock Band allows up to four players to simulate the performance of popular rock music songs by playing with controllers modeled after musical instruments. Players can play the lead guitar, bass guitar, and drums parts to songs with "instrument controllers", as well as sing through a USB microphone. Players are scored on their ability to match scrolling musical "notes" while playing instruments, or by their ability to match the singer's pitch on vocals. Players with the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions can interact through both online and offline multiplayer capabilities. In addition to the 58 core songs included on the game disc, over 1000 downloadable songs have been released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, with more added each week. Some of the tracks include: "Dani California" by Red Hot Chili Peppers, "(Don't Fear) The Reaper" by Blue yster Cult, "Enter Sandman" by Metallica, "Here It Goes Again" by OK Go, "Highway Star" by Deep Purple, "Learn to Fly" by Foo Fighters, "Suffragette City" by David Bowie, "Wanted Dead or Alive" by Bon Jovi, and "Won't Get Fooled Again" by The Who.
Multiplayer:
Xbox 360 and PS3 users were able to play online with other people who have the same game. Other than play online, people with Xbox Live or Play Station Network were able to download over 1,000 more songs.
Single Player Rating:
The game was incredibly addicting and for those who play guitar found this game to be a little bit too easy. However people who do not play instruments find this a good way to feel like a band member. I give this game an 8/10.
Multiplayer Rating:
The multiplayer was not much of a difference from the single player other than the ability to play with people who are not with you. The ability to add new songs made the game much better after players beat the original songs. I give the multiplayer a 7/10
Graphics Rating:
The graphics in this game were not very good. The people looked blocky most of the time and some of the instruments were not exactly the best looking. However, the graphics are not really the important part of the game. I give the graphics a 5/10.
Overall Rating:
The game was very fun and a very entertaining game. It provided hours of fun and allowed players to feel like a part of a band even though they are not. I give the game a 7/10
