Ok so today when i came on xbox i seen i got a message from my friend with this in it:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
As it was a friend i know and trust i went to the link and i had to "claim my profile" and to verify it was me i had to enter my e-mail address and password where it had to verify for 30 seconds.
I then received messages back from a few friends asking "what is this" and apparently, this website just sends a message to everyone on your friends list with:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
They basically have access to your account hence their ability to send out a message to your Friends list.
DO NOT sign up for this, yes it does have information on you and your friends activity but it accesses your account and sends messages from it.
BE CAREFUL. There may be other sites to.

found this on xbox forums
Hi guys,
My name is Kieran O'Neill and I'm one of the developers at Playfire. I just came across this thread and thought it might be helpful to post in here as I know first hand how it works. Hope that's OK.
(POINT ONE) First off, we NEVER save ANY of your details. They're simply used to verify your account and then thrown away. Nothing is ever saved or stored by us at any point. Also, what you enter is fully encrypted the whole time, so we never even see them.
(POINT TWO) Second, verifying your account is completely optional. You don't have to do it if you don't want to. You can just go to the homepage and create an account that way and all it asks for is your gamertag. We only did this to stop people squatting on other people's gamertags and as an easy way to find friends.
(POINT THREE) Third, we never send any message automatically. We have a step where you can add friends if you like. If you add someone who isn't on Playfire, then we send them your referral URL so when they sign up you two are auto-friended. We explicitly say we'll send them a message with a URL so people know exactly what's happening. Again, this too is completely optional and you can easily just skip if you'd prefer.
I completely agree that it's good to be on the safe side and cautious online. Frankly, some sites like us are good, and some sites out there are not, so always be cautious. If you're uncomfortable with logging into Live on Playfire then just go to the homepage and sign up that way and you don't have to log in.
We have hundreds of thousands of members who've been using Playfire for years and I'm sure if you asked any of those guys if i they've ever had any problems then they'd all tell you not at all. We're a social network for gamers, by a team of gamers, who just want to make something fun, amazing and free for the whole gaming community.
I hope this clears things up. If you guys want to ask any questions directly my personal email is kieran at playfire dot com and I'll be happy to help.
