I'll give you a simple answer. No, jailbreaking itself does not slow your iPod down. If you install too much crap from Cydia it will cause the battery to drain faster and become slower (vWallpaper and other system tweaks).

this is true but it doesnt really make it slower i have some serious tweaks and wall papers going on on my ipod 4th gen 32 gig running on 4.2.1

if you overload it with tweaks and upload alot of things from mxtube or safari downloader, yes or if you have a moving wallpaper
