Ok i was just wondering is it safe to be playing xbox with just the mother board and cd drive sittin there...?

Probably not, it could damage the motherboard pretty bad, and im sure you voided the warranty also...

I threw the warrenty in the trash soo but i dont get it wen yhu hot swap doesnt it half to stay like that.?

if they are in the case and properly set but just dont have the top on it should be fine but if it is just sitting there on a table i wouldn't also make sure you dont put the bare motherboard on carpet or something like that it could create static electricity and fry the board.

When i hotswapped i had the bottem part on, but not the top.
Not sure how you did it, but i kinda made my own way XD
