Honestly, iffy is an understatement. I judge products based on their performance for the price, and the Beats are just terrible for what you pay. Dismal. Need proof? Listen to a pair of headphones that costs as much, like the Ultrasone Pro 900 (~$310). That's just one of the dozens of options, too, and I'm referring to the Studios.

The Solos are not even worth mentioning. I've never been so disgusted by headphones.

Speaking of the solos, one of my friends were stupid enough to buy a pair. I told him if he came up to me wearing those Beats, I'd break 'em. He wore them today.

Way over rated and the producers have no idea on how to make good, clear and bassy sound reproduction

I'm quite happy with mine, I have about 4 pairs. Unless you purposely do that, it doesn't normally happen. It's never happened to me.

That's really not the way to approach them. You have to make it look like you have their best interest in mind. It shouldn't be hard, because you do! Show him the better options like the AKG K518, Aiaiai TMA-1, Sennheiser HD 25-1 II, etc. Have a look at the headphone guide in my "Buying Headphones?" post, and maybe send it to him. Acting like you did will just make him want to keep them. The best way to sway them is to let them listen to good headphones. My M50s have a pretty profound effect, but bassier headphones that have a signature the masses like will make them crazy. They'll want to take them back immediately!

They're overrated anyways. Charging extra for a name is silly.
