Well mainly your going to want one with a fast processor and maybe 8-12gb of RAM.

Your graphics card won't be too big of a deal. 1GB of DDR3 is good enough.

Back to the RAM. 8GB will be plenty but if your like me and like to over edit, then I maybe if you have the money go with 12gb. Processor I would reccomend an AMD and then overclock it. It's cheaper and is better than an i7. Make sure it's Quad core. Now here's the thing. If you go with an i7 and get hyper-threading you can render with 8 (4 physical, 4 virtual) cores. With AMD you don't have that so it's a preference. If you will also be doing gaming, I would say go with the AMD.

Wow that was a lot to type.

I would go with a mac if your were editing photos. A mac can video edit but you will have to upgrade it from apple.com, and it can get pretty costly. I would recommend getting a desktop preferably at least 8gb and a gfx card with 2gb of gddr5 ram. the more gfx ram you have the more algorithms the card has stored on it. meaning faster and more reliable rendering.

I have both, but they are both really good. Just make sure to get an i7 processors.
