If it had norton in the past it may well still be interfering (you can never really get rid of that shit)

trying running the tool from step 3 on the system....

alright do this if you have a original windows disk just re install and see if that works

If you can download google chrome and put the on a usb stick then install and try to use it and see if that works it would also help

Lol that is like a last ditch thing, I know that will work, but I am hoping it won't come to that. Also, if you read the entire thread you would see that my disk drive don't work.

Well I have internet on the computer, but only Firefox has it, I could download chrome and use it, but I am not sure if that will allow programs to update.

Another thing you could try is starting IE going to tool > internet options > advanced tab click reset then click reset and try again

you are correct IE is the only browser compatible with windows update site.

That didn't work either, and I am waiting for the removal tool to finish, which is taken forever lol

Well it is not even just windows that won't update, even AOL won't connect to the internet.
