I love the UMP. It is overpowered in my opinion but out of all the submachine guns, it's definately the best.

is it good at long distances yeah
can you hit someone in their big toe and kill them yeah
can you completely miss someone and kill them yeah
can you shoot up in the air and hit absolutly nothing and kill someone yeah

basically its way overpowered but In my opinion I think its the most used gun in the game as well
