You're stupid. You're suppost to download and save all your songs/apps onto itunes, THEN update. If you don't do that, everything is going to be erased. Its not apples fault, its yours. I learned this the hard way when i got my first iPod in 2009.

If you purchased them off your ipod/itunes just go on your itunes and put them back on..

Then i honestly don't know what you did wrong. I updated my iPod yesterday to 5.0.1 and everything was erased. I then used the songs/apps i SAVED ONTO ITUNES and transferred them onto my iPod. Apple is one of the best companies. Just because something went wrong on your iPod doesn't mean the company is bad. Clearly you **** up somewhere.

Re-Install iTunes or just get a new iPod. Nothing else you can do.
