Hello,
This will somewhat be a mixture of a rant and a suggestion. I shall be talking about why the 'Old' accounts should have their names removed from them.
I recently got gifted gold, and I had been wanting to change my username to either 'Dan' or 'Daniel' for a long time. I had checked both usernames previously by going to www.thetechgame.com/daniel . I thought that if an account had been deactivated, their username became available, or if it was a really old, inactive account, you could request for it to have it's username given to you.
But I was wrong! Their username remains unavailable and locked to anyone who wishes to change it. I feel like this is absolutely ridiculous, especially when you find the username you want was taken by someone 3 YEARS ago who hasn't logged in SINCE!

I feel like accounts like these should be deleted. This isn't the only lurker that has locked an account name. There are THOUSANDS. I feel like they should all have their usernames removed, as it's obvious that they don't access TheTechGame anymore. They should be given to someone who deserves it and is active on TheTechGame.
I've already asked the staff in the ask the staff section HERE. I'm not allowed to discuss this much, under rule 5.1
But I think you can understand what I feel about his reply.
It's obvious that a few of you guys out there feel the same way as I do about this issue, just by looking at the thumbs down on his post.
I mean, really? It can't be hard to make their usernames become available after a certain amount of time away from TheTechGame. Many other sites (such as the online game 'Runescape') do it. I think that after 2.5 years away from TheTechGame, they should have their usernames taken from them, and if they login in the future, they should get a message saying:
'Sorry, your TheTechGame username has expired, please enter a new one here: ____________________________'

That is not fair, what if they came back and their account was gone?
The mods said it will never happen, and they would have to delete the accounts one by one.

I was also looking for an OG and it was taken by an inactive random. I think they should deactivate them.
