Okay, so I have two dismantled xboxs that need disc drives, how do I know what disc drive to order for it? Will/does it matter?

When you take the DVD drive out on the top it should have a number on the big sticker at the top left of the bar code mine sayd A0A1(:

ok easiet way, when you remove the faceplate look for a hole below the disk tray (closed) flash a torch through there and look for a colored cable

Red Wires = Toshiba-Samsung TS-H943A

Black Plastic = Hitachi GDR-3120L

White Wires = BENQ VAD-6038

Yellow Wires =Phillips Lite-on DG-16D2S

This only works for the Older models so pre 2010 so basically no slims

also yes it does matter i tried putting a Japanese Phillips Lite-on DG-16D2S dvd drive to replace my australian BENQ VAD-6038, didnt work and if you go online theres a chance you;ll get banned, for something to do with dvd drive keys so becareful there

Im not sure how to fin out but i will tell you this, you must get the right one or you will be console banned. Also do not turn your xbox (without disc drive) while connected to LIVE otherwise you will be instantly console banned.

send them to me and ill give them both bran new drives and ill flash them both to LT+3.0 for $60
