Any player who is part of a squad that beats the Reaper faction on Silver difficulty or better will unlock one Commendation Pack. This means that at least one member of the squad must be extracted at the end of the mission this will earn all squad members the reward. Each player can earn a maximum of one pack and each pack contains a random N7 Arsenal Weapon. Originally only available as single-player weapons via the N7 Collectors Edition, these multiplayer variants will be exceptionally rare and are NOT obtainable through regular purchasable Reinforcement Packs. The Commendation Packs will contain one of the following guns at random: (1) N7 Crusader Shotgun, (2) N7 Eagle Pistol, (3) N7 Hurricane SMG and (4) N7 Valiant Sniper Rifle.
Destroy as many brutes as possible if the multiplayer community kills a combined 1 MILLION brutes within the hours of the challenge, ALL players will receive a Victory Pack as a reward.

So we have both a squad level challenge and a community level challenge at stake. Co-Op on multiple levels. The challenge runs from 3/15/2012 at 5PM PST to 3/19/2012 at 5AM PST. The rewards will unlock on Tuesday, 3/20/2012.

To participate, all players must enable the data tracking option in the game (options-> online-> upload gameplay feedback-> make sure its "ON"). This is only available on the Xbox 360 and PC.

Well, guys and girls, it seems congratulations are in order for the Mass Effect 3 multiplayer community.

On Friday, BioWare issued a challenge for the game's multiplayer fans, dubbed "Operation: Goliath." The first part of the N7 Challenge was to beat a Silver difficulty round against Reapers, all for a chance to unlock an N7 weapon come Tuesday evening. The second part was a community challenge for killing 1 million Brutes.

Turns out, the latter was a huge success. Not only did players meet the 1 million goal, but we've exceeded it as well -- by more than a whopping 2 million. Over three days, Mass Effect 3 players have killed over 3 million of these turian-krogan mutants, meaning everyone will be receiving some free multiplayer goodies on Tuesday.

Check in Tuesday evening after 5:00 PM PST to redeem your Victory Pack. If you successfully beat the Reapers on Silver difficulty, you'll also have a Commendation Pack to unwrap. Good job, everyone, you've made Admiral Hackett incredibly proud.

With Reaper forces beaten back, relief efforts are under way in the newly-taken territory.

During this period, Reaper enemies will be severely depleted and there will be far fewer brutes than usual.
All players will get +25% experience over the weekend as Citadel Allied Command reviews the lessons of Operation Goliath and uses them to train new forces.

Looking ahead: Admiral Hackett has put out the call for advanced combatants among the N7 squads. These troops are being marshaled for an upcoming elite operation. Experience under fire leads to promotions.

Welcome to the next N7 multiplayer weekend!

Last weekend the community joined together to push back the reapers in Operation Goliath. With over 3 million brutes killed, their numbers have been decimated. Expect to encounter far fewer this weekend.

As a reward for that outstanding performance, join your friends online between 5 PM PST Friday, March 23 and 5 AM PST Monday, March 26, to reap the rewards of last weekends successful offensive with a 25% XP bonus.

BioWare is getting a headstart in announcing this week's Mass Effect 3 multiplayer challenge, Operation: Raptor, which throws in another community goal. Like the first Operation: Goliath challenge, Fortress offers players both individual and allied goals in exchange for double rewards.

Rather than having players kill X enemies on X difficulty, the latest N7 challenge encourages players to promote their characters. If you have a maxed character in multiplayer, you'll be given the option to "promote" that class, sending them to the frontlines in the galactic war, which boosts single-player readiness while resetting your characters in said class to level 1. Probably not something a whole lot of players are willing to do, but this weekend, BioWare is offering extra incentives to start over.

Starting Friday, at 5:00 PM PST, and going until 5:00 AM PST, April 2, promoting two characters will net you a Commendation Pack the following week. If the community as a whole manages to promote 150,000 characters, everyone will receive a Victory Pack as well.

Unfortunately, this event won't be available to PS3 owners, unlike last week's Fortress event. As of now, it appears Operation types that reward free packs are unavailable to the PSN crowd, though BioWare assures the PS3 Mass Effect 3 player base that they're working with Sony on resolving the problem. Expect an update on the matter later this week.
