I'm going to install Arch as soon as I get my new 2.5 inch drive in and have the time to properly rice it out. I'm using Windas now, but I'm making the switch to free/open source software and Ganoo Loonix, following in the footsteps of our lord and savior Richard Stallman.

I use Linux daily, more specifically (Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty) Gnome 2.32 Ubuntu Classic environment) simply because that environment has grown on me. I ran Ubuntu 11.10 beta 2/11.10 for a while and just want a fan of it. I may or may not try 12.04 when it's released, only time will tell.
As for you, Zion, creating a screen capture script dedicated for linux is cool, however like M60 said I don't think there is a very large audience that uses linux, at least on TTG. If you create it, it would almost be better for personal use and/or those who do use linux as intended.
Just out of curiosity which language will you be writing this in?

Arch is a great distro. IIRC it is very similar to Gentoo, only it uses Pacman as a package manager, and Gentoo uses Portage. Pacman uses binary packages and Portage makes you compile from source. They're both amazing distros.

I'll be writing it in C++. For me, this is more of a learning experience than anything. I am thinking of dropping Windows functionality and using X11 some way to take the screenshots. The interface will probably be using wxWidgets, since it's least dependant on a DE (like Gnome and KDE) and can be used on a WM (like Fluxbox, which is what I use.) RDCA said it would be too hard to write it in native C++, so I don't think Windows will be using this any time soon. I'm not too sad about that either, since it seems like everyone and their mother has their own screen capture program for Windows.
Also, now that I think of it, I think the Mac OS runs X11, so if I do take that path, the app might be easily ported to Mac. I'll see about this once I finish the Linux version.
