So a lot of people have been de-ranked because others think it's "funny" to obliterate people's hard work. So I made this guide to help you guys prevent getting de-ranked, and also help you restore your old rank if you got de-ranked.

AVOIDING

These are self-explanatory and common sense.
*DON'T accept random invites!*
*DON'T get convinced when people say they can give you mods!*
*DON'T watch random people's vault videos!*
*DON'T watch "FAIL!"*
*Remember that there are no mods that will be given to you for free!*

RESTORATION

Do these RIGHT after you get de-ranked!
1. DON'T join a game!
2. Dashboard as soon as possible!
3. Turn off your Xbox after Dashboarding.
4. Check if your rank has been restored.

If above did not work!
1. Contact Activision Support (U.S + Canada - 1-800-225-6588), (U.K - 44 845 528 02690)
2. Give them your gamertag
3. Tell them who de-ranked you
4. Wait until they restore your rank

Activision # for other Countries can be located here: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
NOTE: This will not be instantaneous. You will need to wait a few days.

It says:
A modding group created a viral mod, which we prevented from spreading recently. Sadly, in 'protest' at our ability to disable this they are now inviting player's to private matches where they reset their stats. We have a fix for this in the works and are backing up player's stats so that we can restore them if needed. In the meantime avoid friend invites from ANYONE not on your friend list.

Somehow people can invite you to a Private match and start it and de-rank you somehow. How this works, I don't know but this was also stated by Activision.
