Yes. Plus, all the 680's out of stock and will take a while to come in. I'm hearing mid April.

It was out of stock 3 days ago, 2 days ago back in stock, today none in stock.
It will come back in a day or two, plus would you sacrifice the difference in terms of performance between the 7970 and 680 for just 1 or 2 days of wait?
Not me.

tsk tsk tsk.
680>7970 @ stock speeds, yes.
Once you download MSI afterburner and overclock it, the performance difference is ridiculous. Plus, if he wants to do an eyefinity setup, 2gb won't be enough. Granted EVGAis coming out with a 3gb card or something like that, but that's in a couple of months.

Generation wrote Here is what I suggest you get with $1400. I know for a fact it's a more bang-for-buck build compared what you
listed.

No need to spend money on $300 motherboards with features that you more than likely never use. This is the best build you can get. The highest end AMD videocard out on the market today ( destroys 680 when OC'd clock for clock ) - 2500k CPU is just what you want, 2600k is a waste if this is mainly strictly gaming. Super reliable and extremely fast Crucial SSD as boot and 500gb for movies / songs, etc. Great Antec PSU - easily handle crossfire due to it not using a lot of power. ASRock board supports PCI 3.0 and people have beengetting great OC's on this board. The case is totally up to you - I just listed the Storm Enforcer due to me having it and having great experiences with it.

RAM is 1.65 Volt. Sand Bridge Spec is 1.5,
I would rather get 1.5v

You forgot that this guy is a beginner, he can't overclock properly without burning his card, I agree that the 7970 has better OC potential.
But in this case I would go with the 680.
And I'm not a fanboy from any hardware company (not saying that you are)
And the 680 is 30-40$ cheaper.

Also Generation, you listed a 1333mhz RAM and a PCI express 2.0 which won't take the full potential of the 7970.
Also the Storm Enforcer it's an ok case, they are better choices near that price range, with better airflow and cable managemnet (Corsair 400R, Phantom 410, ect..)

Heh. I guess I looked over the RAM. The 400r is a good case too - personal preference really.
