this is going to sound really stupid but how do you get into someones "vault"???

If someone could help that would be great!!

You go to the multiplayer menu and click vault and then friends online vault.

You have to go to Xbox Live Main Menu. Then Select "Vault", Then select "Friends Online Vault". After that, Browse your friends vaults!

If they are on your friends list, go on Mw3.
The Multiplayer
then instead of clicking 'Xbox Live' or 'Playstation Network' go down to where it says 'Vault'
then instead of pressing 'online vault'(Which are your videos)
click on 'friends online vault'
then click the friend you want to see videos of, then it loads their vault videos.
using my video King powers, i quickly found a video for you.
