i want to learn a computer language i already know a bit of JavaScript but i don't like what it is used for !

i want to use this language for:
possibly a bit of hacking (I've done a bit from time to time at my school)
programming games
programming software

Java is mostly used for application coding, but python is up there in good programming languages. I'm learning Java right now though so wish me luck

I am going to the University of Louisville Speed Scientific School for Engineering.

My major is currently in CECS (Computer Engineering and Computer Science).

So far we have learned a lot of C, then C++. (Easy and useful for small things)

Next we did some assembly and machine code (such as binary and hex) (NOT FUN!)

This week I actually have a lab in Python which seems simple, but I do not know much about it. I know if you want to make games and such, Java is a great option for you. Hope this helps.
