as the topic title says, which would be better for running maxed settings on BF3 and any CoD? 2 GTX 460's or 1 GTX 480?

1 480, 2 460s create more heat, require more power, and only give a 30% performance boost over 1 card.

I've been looking into it and apparently 2 460's are much better as the 480 has a massive amount of heat.. the 460's SLI offer 40 more FPS on ultra settings apparently as well..

Where did you get your info from?

At 1920x1080 the 480 gets 76 fps on BFBC2 and the 460 SLI gets 62.

Well, i know i've seen a few videos benchmarking the two, and the SLI 460's seem to get better constant FPS on maxed settings for most games.. :/

As you can see, the SLI 460's beat out the GTX 480, and even the GTX 580 which is a great card itself. Definitely pick up the two 460's ;)

Right now the 460's SLI. But in the Longrun just get a 560 Ti. So when in 2 years and they are around 75$ just put them in SLI. You can't always add onto your 460 SLI.
