ive been working on these laptop Latitude D505 "yes i know its old" for 2 days now and yes i do have the Recovery CD
when i try chkdsk, chkdsk /r, chkdsk /p, chkdsk /f "which it take forever to finish" it stop at 75% and say something about the volume is being "corrupt"
i did try fixboot, fxmbr which it say successfully fix or over right "something like that" then when type exit and laptop start to reboot it give me a msg saying Invalid Boot.ini
i try searching on google youtube i read the whole comments non of them work.

1.create a text file and copy those strings (windows 2000 professional):
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
2)save as "boot.ini" in c:\
3)if you try to open my computer/properties/advanced should work
4)reboot
