I wish I knew what you just said... so what do you guys recommend as a new CPU for my PC that won't bottleneck and will still increase my render speeds. I am not a pc gamer so I don't need a gamer cpu, but one for 3d design. Thanks again for all the help so far guys, + rep to all that helped.

Don't listen to this tool, he obviously didn't read the part where you said you wanted a render/editing cpu, and you can still overclock the 1045 just it doesn't have a unlocked multiplier, quite a bit of people have gotten there phenoms up to about 3.8ghz with all 6 cores activated so don't say that you can only overclock 980. The only tasks that the Phenom II X6 processors are ideal choices for are video editing/encoding or 3D design work which you want. For gaming, higher-clocked Phenom II X4 processors like the 965 and 980 perform better than slower-clocked X6 processors.

Im the tool? I have an i5, which stock is 3.3 gHz, and that had an insanely short render time. I dont think that theres a huge difference between those two processors. im sure you can overclock the 2.7 to be fast, but it will run just about the same. With my i5, i didnt notice a difference between it being 3.3 gHz or 4.8 (which is what im overclocked to right now) So im pretty sure it wont make a huge difference. The 980 is one step lower than the 1045, but the 980 uses more wattage.

If your using stock cooling, the highest the 1045 can OC to is about 3.4.
The highest the 980 can go is about 4.5

Just because you have an i5 does not make you a tool LOLZ, I guess every time someone calls me a tool im just going to tell them I have an i7 2700K, I must be a GOD!
On topic get the 1045T for video editing if you want to have faster rendering OC the cpu.
