It seems a bit plain. Try texturing the strip and the text. Also try toning down the fading edges to around 40%.

It's a little bit too plain, try using gradients and not so much of a light source like that. Just keep trying you'll get it soon.

Not bad for your first, good choice of colors if seems to go together well, you should try to center the text on it though
