Because towards the end of WWII the Nazi party knew they were losing. They starting taking concentration camps down by scrubbing down the gas chambers and taking the remaining Jews on death marches. You act like gas gets absorbed by the wall or something.

:facepalm: Look real closely at that page you sent me. Most of those doors are made of metal. Or at the very least they have metal parts to clamp the doors shut. And most of the wooden doors led to the outside. If you release a small amount of poisonous gas into the outside world, it won't kill every person.
