fataledge wrote r00t b33r, what other laptops, possibly in other series, would fit me well from lenovo. I can't find the 520 or 530 refurbished and the new ones are pretty high priced o_o.
The W510 Refurbished looks comparable to the ones you mentioned. Also would the X220 be a good choice for what I need? (I read your copy pasta and it mentioned it, but you weren't answering my topic in the copy pasta obviously)
For college, I actually can't think of anything better than an X220. Also, just wait and things you want will show up in the Outlet. It moves fast. I wouldn't buy two generations back simply because there was a huge jump when Sandy Bridge came out, much more than the Sandy to Ivy jump. Sandy Bridge laptops are still good options.

I heard that Alienware has horrible customer support. Don't wanna take that risk on an overpriced laptop.
Anyways, cool! I'll be getting the Lenovo x220. I've been looking up some reviews and I like what I've read.

Nice. You might want to wait until the X230 drops, which will be very soon. It will drive current X220 prices down and there's speculation on whether the X220 might actually be better than the X230 due to a better keyboard. New Thinkpads are switching to crap chiclet keyboards. Although they're good chiclets, they're still chiclets.
