Rock band.... have to say 30 Seconds to mars If you dont mean just rock, as in including metal, death metal etc etc.... id have to say either Amon Amarth or Opeth, two absolutely amazing Melodic Death Metal bands ;)

My favorite band is Red Hot Chili Peppers... If that isn't obvious enough lol

They just have a really unique sound. There will never be another band that will sounds like them. And their guitarist is amazing he's one of the best in the world. Same for their bass player, all around just an amazing group of people.
