I just wanted to ask you guys a question and see how you feel about it. If you were at a major league baseball game and you were given the opportunity to actually catch a foul or homerun ball from the opposing team, would you throw it back onto the field?

I am a pretty loyal red sox fan and i would absolutely throw back an opposing teams' homerun without even a thought about it, but im not sure about foul balls.... I mean they are not a hit or anything that matters so i think i would probably keep it but idk. What do u think??

Well you could go both ways on an opposing teams "ball." Both teams really touched it in some way in order to lead to a homerun if this is a live pre/regular/post season game.

I wouldn't throw back a ball even if it was an opposing team homerun or foul. Here are some reasons why.

The pitcher of your team threw the ball and the opposing team hit it so both teams touched it. Kind of a two for one deal.

How many people can walk home with a baseball and say they caught a homerun/foul and have the ball in their possession?

Even though a team hit a homerun, it doesn't mean an automatic loss for the other team. Fouls are the same thing. They don't make an automatic loss for the other team but rather raise the count if there's not two strikes yet which should be a good thing for the team.

Sell the ball to a diehard fan of whoever threw the ball.

Some baseballs are special to the batter so you could give them back. Ex. Jeter's 3,000th hit. Pujols first HR as an Angel. They're all baseball players. Hate them or not, either way, they broke a record so they should be honored even if they don't play for the team you like.

A loyal fan is a loyal fan. But as long as you know yourself that you're a loyal fan then that's all that matters. Throwing a baseball back doesn't totally mean that you're a loyal fan. If you're a loyal fan, most cases, you still will be known as a nobody to the Red Sox. There's many ways to express that you're a loyal fan and you're like throwing a lottery ticket in the toilet when you throw any baseball put into play in the MLB. Not worth it in my opinion but that's just me.

It depends what team it is and what the score of the game is

I personally am a WhiteSox fan

If it was a ball from a cubs player then I would definitely throw it back
