As you can see down below, a GTX 570 will easily slice through BF3 on ultra settings + match that up with a 2500k and you got yourself a sweet combo!

COD, Minecraft, and L4D will easily be maxed out.

It's $20 over budget but it's well worth grabbing a 128gb M3 over a 64gb Crucial considering such a small price difference. Rock solid board with a top notch PSU will provide outstanding reliability and performance whilst not hindering future upgrades. Super speedy SSD with fast reads will make the PC feel and respond about 2 x 3 faster and even games like BF3 will load exceptionally faster. A Hyper 212 is there and can achieve respectable OC's considering the price and is a good cooler.

He could certainly stand to save the $20 in the PSU, a 750w is more than enough for a GTX 570, a similar offering like something from the HIVE series (what I would suggest he get), or a smaller wattage PSU.

And maybe I'm blind, but you might be missing a case. To keep it low on budget the Fractal Design Core series are great options, or the NZXT Source. The Cooler Master Elite series (like the 430) and the Rosewill Challenger also make great offerings.

Yes, of course you could easily save on the PSU but only a select few 650w unit have 4 x 6pins that are able to handle 2 GTX 570's in SLI right out of the box without using molex connectors that look quite ugly since they are not sleeved. You could run a single GTX 570 off of a quality 500w unit for example and it'd be more than fine but the Z77 G43 splits into 8x 8x and supports SLI. Everyone has their own opinions and what not, but if spending the extra $20 gets you all of that + higher overclocking options, I say it's a darn good investment.

Also, thanks for pointing the case - looks like I completely looked over it. I'm a fan of the ever so popular HAF 912 and the Zalman Z9 ( 4 x 120mm fans at stock I believe ).

Yes, that's one of the things I was going to add into the OP! I know a lot about laptops and I think I can help people with them.
