Hey guys here's an easy tut to make a spotlight in your avatar. Final product?:

Step 1] Canvas size. Your choice. *Captain obvious*

Step 2] Choose a background colour and apply.
Double click where it says 'Layer 0' and rename it background.

Step 3] Select a white brush of 180px and 0 hardness. Apply as following.
Click multiple time at the top middle of your image.

Step 4] Make a new layer, size down your brush to 130px and apply in the middle.

Step 5] Hold down SHIFT+CTRL+ALT and drag the corners out of the canvas so it looks like the light has spread on the floor, then slightly lower the brush to the bottom.

Step 6] Create a new layer and select a black brush. Now apply like you did with the white brush, but along the bottom.
Step 7] Merge layer 1 and background together.

Step 8] Double click on layer 1 and choose 'Pattern overlay' and tick it and choose the gray granite pattern. The last one. Apply it and change the opacity down to 16.

Now you can add text onto the spotlight and add personal effects onto it.
