I was talking to an Xbox employee and they also said that it was to stop piracy (Flashed consoles) So if your Xbox is flashed I would suggest not updating unless you can reflash it yourself or you know someone that can do it.

When I had my console flashed this was I'd say nearly a year ago their was an update and it stopped it working on me so I didn't bother reflashing it.

All my friends have told me that when ever and update comes out it always stops there's from working and they have to reflash it so I duno lol
