Is it me or is metal getting more popular. I'm just now noticing more people listening to metal, even if it is mall core stuff, I mean metal is a gateway drug. You're going to start somewhere. Me for example i started listing to Slipknot, it really helped me get through some tough times, with my family. Now I'm into melodic metal and thrash. What do you guys think, is metal getting more popular?

Personally I think its getting more unpopular because of all the stupid mall metal stuff going around, and crappy bands like Bring Me The Horizon and Falling in Reverse. People hear the "scene" kids listen to it and instantly have a disliking to all metal, even though 90% of metal is good, and not crappy emo singers who think they can scream into a mic when yet they sound like someone giving a cat a reach-around.

Heavy Metal will never overgrow Pop music, It's all mainstream and there's no changing that.

Very true. I love Metal and I love many other Genres. Metal was the first genre I fell in love with though. But in the past few years I have learned that variety is a good thing. Metal isn't the most mainstream genre and that's the way I like it. I do not like Emo bands or most alternative. I also don't like extrememly Heavy stuff. The heaviest I like is Slipknot or Hatebreed. I don't find it enjoyable after a certain point.

Like Trollesta stated, It's never going to overgrow Pop.

It's definitely still popular though. It's changing. You won't see classic bands like Megadeth, Metallica, and Slayer.

I personally think Metalcore is better. I do like clean vocals and screams mixed. I think it is good for most songs.

(I'm not Emo or Scene, before you start dropping stereotypes.)

It does seem like most people on ttg listen to dubstep rap or metal.

Also seems like less people listen to rock.
