The code from your region won't you would have to reach Xbox support to transfer the value to your country, so instead off going though all that trouble just buy the right card for that account online or something.

If it is an American code than it will not work in the UK.

Just change your Locale to U.S then change it back to U.K after you have put it on your account?

Changing your Locate of your Console has nothing to do with it.
He'd need to change the location of his LIVE account and he can't.
