I'll speak to the knowledge I have of HDMI and not DVI.
I wanted to try the same thing, my laptop has an HDMI port so I talked to some experts. The response I got was that most laptops only have an HDMI OUT port which means that they won't accept signals coming in (like an Xbox console)
I have no idea if DVI is the same thing as google won't provide me with any good information.

Wait, no so fast.
So I'm looking at a thread here: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
Apparently you can use a device like this to connect the console to your laptop: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
It doesn't just capture video, it also transmits images like shown here: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]
You could I guess possibly find one that utilizes HDMI or maybe DVI if it exists.

If you would like to have your xbox image to show up on your computer screen to play then you will have to go to radio shack or maybe even gamestop and get a cable that they make for that. I forgot what they are called but i used to do that myself till i got HD.
