Football is easy to pick up. It's a lot of work and hustle but I don't see why that would be a negative. Football makes you conditioned so well it's ridiculous. You'll come into basketball running more, running faster, being stronger, and being more aggressive than all the guys who didn't do football. Trust me, football doesn't make you a better football player, it makes you a better athlete overall. I'd definitely recommend doing football if you have nothing better to do. The only excuse you'd have to not do it is if you're missing a kidney or something. Do it.

Yes! I have played football 7 years and it is amazingly fun! Try really hard at work-outs and practice throwing, running, stuff like that. Then, soon your coaches will be impressed and you can start the fun. It feels amazing when your doing Oklahoma drills, or any drill that involves tackling, and you hit that guy just right and his breathe gets knocked out, you feel like superman. It's also great social skills because you have to communicate, all the time. You also need to be a smart person, or at least have football smarts. It's a good way to get back at somebody too, and when your in the pile, try to hit someone as many times as you can, the refs never seem to call anything on me. Football also teaches you a bunch about life.
So yes, tryout for football, and good luck making the team.
