Dont go for a laptop, this will make upgrades harder and limit the potential that you could achieve with a desktop. depending on what types of games you want to play and how much you are willing to spend on the pc.

He can't build his own laptop. Not everyone wants a desktop, as you can't move it around.

To the OP: Does the laptop have to be portable, is battery life important, what is a preferable screen size, how much are you willing to spend, and what games are you going to be playing on it and at what settings.
