It only ups the bass as it should, the footsteps aren't going to really be affected by that.
If you want to hear footsteps you'll need like the PX5'S or XP500'S.

Can you try it out and see if there's any difference?
I'm testing it right now, but it seems the same. Sometimes I hear it and I assume it's better, but it could just be my head playing tricks on me, leading me to think it's better when it could just be the same.

I just tried it with a few of my buddies. The bass makes the footsteps a little more noticeable and a bit louder (not much at all). It made it sound less soft. If the person has dead silence, it is so hard to even hear his footsteps. It's basically silent.

Maybe because dead silence makes your footsteps not make sound...?

Not quite. It reduces it by 4x. You can hear those that are using dead silence with sitrep pro easily and loudly.
