That all depends on what games you want to play, what resolutions, etc.

Your budget for a top-of-the-line computer, in my opinion, should be around the 1,000 range, but if you're not ready to drop a grand on a computer, try going for around 700.

My PC I built a few weeks ago for gaming is pretty good at what it does. I renders in 5->10 mins and then plays more or less all games on high settings and if extreme is there it sometimes runs them with no lag that I can see.
This all cost me around 300 -> 400 which is $460 -> $620

i havea custom pc that i built it cost me around 900 but i cant play on high settings it renders pretty fast but the settings i have to play on arnt the best so im willing to spend about 1500 into all my parts but im trying to find a a good website where i can buy my parts way more cheaper cause the site that i have is a bit costy and i think i can find it a bit cheaper
