god this is really pissing me of. i,m sure you've heard of maple story, one of the most overated and over played games ever

seriously people WHY DO YOU PLAY THIS GAME!

il admit i have played a fair share of the game about a year ago
the rebellion or whatever it was called...............resistance thats it
whatever. that expansion JUST came out and i decided to check out maple story on last time

i had friends irl who loved the game [ none of witch i talk to anymore]
and while this wasn't my first time playing the game [ i tried it a while ago on my old dead computer] this definitely was my last. so about last ear i made a new char and decided to role a Mech. [for those who dont know, Mechs other then duel blades are the cheapest class ever allowing for easy enamy sweeping and ill stealing]
and il admit i actualy got this charecter to a respectable level 40

it took practacly ALL summer

yes all summer and im a level 40.

for those who don't now the max level is 200 [ except in the dawn people or whatever expansion or whatever were the max is 120 for all who role in it]

now most people say that to get to the good stuff you have to get far, an that by far is the stupidest shit ive ever heard. if i get a quarter away through the game [ which by the way i didint because each level gets progressively lounger to the point of insanity]
and the game still hasent gotten fun thats bullshit

i have so meny things that are MAJOR problems. not even nitpics


1. the level cap

the level cap is very deceiving in this game
its the highest cap i can think of of the top of my head
it makes it seem like the game is gonna be long[ and because these are the first few levels of an MMO really fun to]
which to its credit is true. but the reason the level cap is so retarded is my second point

2. the quests

anyone with good taste in MMO knows what makes for a good mmo and one of the most important things is questability.
this is what makes wow so good. now look im no wow fanboy but i definitely think its populer for a reason [ however blizzard seems to be overshadowing those reasons with huge mounds of shit recently but i digress] you can quest to max level
maplestory fans might find this as a shock. but in a good game like wow quests give enough experiance to help you on your way to the next leveling zone. now il be fair maplestory does have tons of quests and no matter what faction/expansion your playing you can do them. but even the quests for your current level theres not enough experiance/ not enough quests . to be able to level you for you next story missions/leveling zone

2b. quest quality

maplestorys quests are textbook mmo kill fire monkeys and collect there butts
but to the level of insanity
no joke at level like 15 i got a quest from this naative american guy [ the warrior trainer i think] to kill 300 monsters and collect 100 of there drops WTF

the annoying thing is this was part of a quest chain and it stated out pretty reasonable
but then it got freaing insane at the later chains. im pretty sure it was,ent even over yet
i know wow had alot of these quests but at the edn levels theres at least some verity
now i compare MS to wow alot and mabey i shouldent because wow is a subscription based game and maplestory is a FTP [indof] but theres a reason i compare them


3. maxing out/shitty combat

so seeing as you cant quest to max
the only logical way to max is to,you guessed it, grind
and omg the grind

now heres the thing about maple story fights . there SO boring

admittedly PVP has a few neat ideas but there ruined by the combat right at the getgo

the games skills are more of a convenience then a necessity
you can kill any monster with basic attacks in a few seconds

but you will literaly spend hours per level in these areas killing monsters

i saw a review of the game once and the guy made a great joke [ well not a great joe but a fatastic point] the purpose of maplestory is you map a key press said key 1000 times
level up spend points remap then press said key 2000 times

repeat oh 190 times


4. the comunity

now this one isint allways true as people are diffrent

now first and for most
partying is useless
you gain shit experiance on your own
and [correct me if im wrong ] but the experiance rate decreses by eaither half or less then half

meaning hey you killing twice the monsters but gaining =/- the EXP

2 most people [ including nexon themselves]
point it out to be the best online game ever beating out any SBMMO
which clearly it isint




5. the classes

now on the surface nexon seems admirable for how meny classes theyve added

but if you pay atention you'll notice there all based on the same 5 base classes
[ or 4 base classes and 5th new class as i hearded pirate was added later]
the only diffrence between any of the skills and playstyles [ which do differ as there are multiple types per class...which dont differ though expansions so theres no point]
is the duelblade and mech which again are the cheapest most over powerd classes





6. the story lines

no one plays an mmo for the story [well most people dont anyway]

but the ones who do

got some bad news....the plots suck

now there pretty underwelming anyway

but what instently ruins it is that almost every expansion has the same basic plot
and its a stupid plot to be in an mmo
i stoped playing when they added the mercadies or around that time

so i dont know about the newer plots


but alot of them [ base dawn warriors both aren even]
are always

you the only one [ out of 20million people who are also the only one ]7
who can save us

yes you play an individual who them and only them [ other then the other people who play that class] can save the world. this is evedent especialy in even and aron were in aron you play a pre excisting charecter who lives on a farm has a brother mother and father
and finds a mysterious dragon egg which is the last of its ind or somthing
in even you save some kids from some monsters and get frozen and have to rember who you are

this doesent wor because its an mmo which beleive it or not is kind
of a social thing

dont tell me " oh you play a charecter in every other game whos the only one and is preexcisting]

bullshit someone said that to me and its bullshit

heres why

mmo = multiplayer and comunity
non mmo=single player experiance



7. post game

were as a good game lie wow starts after you max
maplestorys about the incredibly boring journey to max level
sure theres shitty pvp
and you can grind for shitty usless pvp gear
go back finish some low level quests you never completed
but other then that NOTHING!!!


godamnit

8. cash shop

most games have a cash shop including wow
and incidently the MS cash shop is why i compare MS to WOW
however the stuff in the MS cash shop isint worth shit except for the EXP scrolls
seriously the wepons are all just skins that you put over you current wepon
there cool and all [ stuff like pillow cases all the cool starting items]
but they dont have stats maing them wortless. its lie comparing texturepacks in minecraft
to mods. sure the textures are neat and all but mods actualy add stuff and improve the game

then theres pets

they do nothing
they only last a few hours
they do nothing

even the ones you get from the quests have time limits

then they have they have the fourmentioned exp scrolls

and its very much in the vain of a facebook game] which ironicly there is]

sure you dont really NEED them to max but if you want to do it anytime soon...goodluck




9. nitpics

1 maplestory adventures

its a facebook game
which is why this is only a nitpick
but its somehow more boring then the actual game
the quests are basic FB quests
the combat is less exsistent the the actual thing
and you need 3 friends to even get your first job
bull crap

and the game is pointless eaither way because the actual game is free

i thin you get some free shit if you play adventures but whats the point?


2. server population
every one plays on scania
it was the first server i think so theres not much to complain about
it makes sence so your not stupid if you play on scania cuz thats the only place were you wont be playing alone [ you are stupid if you enjoy this game though XD]




3. to be added come i think of anything

1. i thought of one then forgot. because its hard to thin of good things and the bad also over shadows the good
