I was just browsing Linus Tech Tips and NCIX and I saw [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . It inspired me to do 2 things on my next build.
I was planning on using the [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] in my next build, but I didn't like the price and I knew I didn't need that much wattage, but I wanted more than 850w, which is the next step down in the AX series. After watching that video, I learned about the [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] . That seems like a perfect amount of wattage for me, and I was just wondering why there is such a huge difference in price between those two PSU's. It's about $90 more for the AX1200, which just doesn't seem right to me. I want to use the HX1050, but I'm afraid the price is so low because it has some issues. Does anyone know of any reasons for the huge price difference?
My other question is about LED's. I didn't plan to use any LED's, but that video showed me how great blue looks in the 800D which I had already planned on using. Can someone recommend some good and reliable blue LED strips? I have never installed LED's before, but I assume it's pretty easy. If not, please let me know.

Jebus, what on earth do you need such a high wattage for? A quality 750 watt unit will handle dual 680s with overclocking.
The HX series is fantastic. Have no qualms about them. They've been rated 80+ Silver officially until recently when they realized they were actually Gold.
Why the 800D? It's not the best case at all. You'd be better off with an NZXT Switch 810, Cooler Master Storm Stryker, or not even a full tower case becuase 95% of the time they're pointless.
It's all about the subtle white LEDs. As long as they're tastefully implemented, I'm not going to call ricer.

I had no idea. I thought I would need at least 850w.
I just chose the 800D because it looks sexy and seemed to have a ton of features. It is too expensive, though.

Hmmmmm... Might I suggest the greatest case the world has every known?

Not a huge fan of the design. I'm a noob and only care about how the case looks, so I will probably just stick with the 800D in the end. I will switch out the PSU, though. Thanks.

I have a corsair cx600 PSU, that's more than enough. no need to go overkill on it, as for the LED lights, are they really needed? i mean who's gunna see it..

The CX series really sucks and I hate recommending them. They're not rated honestly and do not output their rated wattages.

That unit will put out 550 watts with an efficiency above 80%.
If you're getting a 2500K or 3570K, you can get the wonderful Rosewill Hive 750 for $28 off in this combo. Awesome.

Not an expert on the PSU's but compared to my last the cx600 is more than adequate to handle everything. Would recommend as its pretty cheap also.

They're not bad units, but there are qualms to be had. I always look for a better unit, because they're certainly out there.
