Sorry for the slow reply. Its purposely done like that.. You have to open your case.. Drop the weapon or item you want. Then look at the item.. Keep ahold of A (X on PS3) And drop it in. Its the same as oblivion.

I wouldnt suggest putting valuable items into the cases, they seem to have this nasty glitch of moving when you enter/exit your house... Lost dawnbreaker and some others in the house.... Found my mehrunes dagger under a table, cant find any others. Also the weapons rack you can put into your armory seems to teleport my items upward and out of reach... be careful...

Yeah agreed, the weapon wracks are a bit buggy, you put a weapon in and it can glitch somewhere in your house, sometimes it glitches where theres just enough to pick it back up, but sometimes it can glitch under the house so you cant get it.
