Because people are insane, and some people believe our population should be a lot lower than what it is. It gets everywhere because we have transportation to and from every country on the planet. It's very easy to see how it could get to everywhere in the world.

I'm guessing you've never seen the start of 'Resident Evil: Extinction', or the end of 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes'?

It 'gets everywhere' because of transportation. Viruses spread incredibly quickly, especially potent ones.
