My xbox is usually fine when I play, even if left on for 12 hours, but if I try to play Black ops 2 or Borderlands 2, my xbox overheats in 15 minutes.
I have the Halo 3 xbox (not slim). This xbox has a special dual fan with air flow direction to where it's needed.
It seems that the box on the power cord is overheating not the xbox itself.
If anyone has any suggestions, I will +rep.

It could possibly be the power brick but try having a fan near it to keep it cool.

My xbox always gets very warm and almost overheats so the best option would be either to water cool it or have a fun on it
