Pretty sure all you have to do is hook it up to a computer, and then click your device. It should say update (because there is an update ( Ios 6 ) ). Then just click update, it will wipe your ipod/iphone and should start downloading it. It will take a while.

Yes you have to, but you can get it all back afterwards if it's on your itunes. Or you can seperately download them from the app store again.

Also, if it's jailbroken it will un-jailbreak after the update is complete so yeah, re jailbreak if you want.

On your iPhone/iPod/iPad go to Settings - general - software update
From here you'll be able to download it over the air (OTA)
Just make sure you're connected to wifi

Updating the device does not restore the device.
To upgrade, you can go into the Settings app on the device, then go to General>Software Update
Another way would be to plug the device into your computer, and upgrade through iTunes.
When your device is recognized by the computer, the name of the device should pop up on the left side of the screen in the menu. It should be listed under "Devices'. Click on the name of the device and it should bring you to a screen that gives you information on your device. There are two buttons. Update, and Restore. Just click Upgrade and go through all of the steps required.
