Oh it's real alright.

If you really want to do it then a device like REMEE should help a lot: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] It's not out till October but it should be worth it.

I've had two lucid dreams, not using any weird methods, just realizing I'm dreaming. It really helps if you sleep for like 3-5 hours, wake up then stay up for like 30min to an hour and go back to sleep.

You see dreams as being oh maybe 1-2 hours long. In reality everyone has 5-10 dreams a night that last about 5-10 minutes each. You only remember 1-2, and dreams occur most within 2 hours before waking up during REM(Rapid Eye Movement). During the REM cycle is when it is also more likely to Lucid dream.

Keeping a dream journal and recognizing similarities in your dreams will initiate a reality check. Also doing lots of reality checks when awake like looking down at your hands will get you in the habit of doing it in a dream. I also take melatonin a natural medicine that helps with falling asleep and increasing vividness of dreams. Like for instance, I see my friend Sam in a lot of my dreams so when I see him I do a reality check. There is also sleep masks that sense when you are in REM and trigger red leds that appear in your dream to notify you that you're dreaming but those can be expensive.

Keep the dream journal right beside you, when you wake stay still and try to remember the dreams THEN write them down. The more you move, the more you lose the thoughts in your subconscious.

There is also 5 main stages in a Lucid dream.

1. Normal dream, blurry, no control.
2. Normal dream a bit more vivid, still no control.
3. A bit more vivid, discoloration, aware of dreams, but no urge to control them.
4. Kinda vivid, aware of dreams, controlling is possible but a bit hard.
5. Vivid like reality, control with ease, a full blown vivid dream.

TL;DR: Do reality checks. Keep a journal, find similarities in dreams. When ever you see a similarity in a dream, do a reality check.

I've tried to lucid dream plenty of times, and only done this type of dream around 2 times.

1st one was blurry and only had a little control.
2nd one was a little bit more vivid but with a lot more control.

God.. I haven't lucid dreamed in FOREVER. I am going to try to. When ever I did though, I had no problem at all controlling and I still remember every detail.

I have been attempting to lucid dream for about 4 months now and I have had a few

One thing I would suggest to help you Lucid dream is Binaural Beats you can get them of YouTube they really do help I suggest downloading one which is 1 and a half hours long because that is how long the average person takes to fall asleep (Around there)

Another tip is to do it when you are really tired or set your alarm to wake yourself up early so you can quickly fall asleep.
