So would I be able to play battlefield on at least medium with no lag/lag spikes?

Yes, that should run it fine.
But you might want to consider getting a Intel processor, AMD FX (also known as bulldozers) Are mainly for desktop tasks, although they have 4-6-8 cores at a low price, they crash often and aren't the best for games, due to no hyperthreading that you get in the intel i5+. If you look at most reviews on Amd FX/Bulldozer processors, they are bad for gaming.
But it should run it medium fine, although you should really get intel or atleast AMD phenom.

yes with those specs you should be able to play on ultra pretty well, obviously when playing online your internet connection matters also, but graphic wise yes you should be fine

But about the intel i5, how much does that cost?
I'm kinda on a tight budget :/

I would suggest swapping out your 550 ti with a Sapphire Radeon HD 7850, mainly because of superior drivers. As for the i5, you are going to want to get an i5 2500 or a 2500K if you plan on overclocking. The 2500K will be around $210. It is well worth the extra $100, trust me
