Intel i3 or Intel Core 2 Duo?

I'm on a Core 2 Duo right now, and my laptop isn't in the best state.

I'm getting a new Toshiba D171 i3 computer, so I was wondering whats better?

I'm not that good with computers, so I can see if I sound stupid around the subject of it.

I'm not looking to game on it, like steam, but just to browse.

So i3 or Core 2 duo?

Is it still a good laptop for browing on Google chrome/Firefox, etc?

This laptop tends to freeze alot when browsing, and i'm on windows XP. I prefer windows 7 more.

Yeah, Its pretty much just for everyday use. For the same budget you told me(500-800) you can build one yourself with alot better performance and one that can play alot more games.

If you look into this, Go here and im sure R00t or itsMichael will help you out.
