Hi ttg i have recently fried my mother board and i bought a emachines pc and droped in a new 3.2 ghz (3.6 ghz overclock) cpu and i have one gig of ram and its a 32 bit operating system so the max ram that can go in is 4 gb right? and it only reads 3.5 ive heard but is it worth getting the 4 gig or just ride it out with 1 gig. this pc is for gaming and video editing. and can anybody tell me if i can put more than 4 in a 32 bit os thanks wil + rep if i get good answers.

The maximum amount of RAM that is allowed in a 32-bit OS is 4GB. That's still a decent amount of RAM, but it's best to switch to 64-bit if you can.

how can i swicth to 64 bit i thought if ur pc came with 32 bit that ur mother board cannot support 64

Any motherboard is capable of both 32 and 64 bits. 64 bit is exactly the same just allows more RAM.

To switch, just torrent a version of Windows 7.
