I'd like to know what $20 headphones that you have that sound that good. Even below $50 it's hard to find headphones that sound better than the already mediocre Beats.
Well the Xeport 5010 and AKG K518 are technically superior to the Solos, I think, but yeah, the Studios aren't as bad as we make it sound. You need the $80 AKG K181DJ to find something better than the Studios. The Pros are pretty hard to beat for enjoyment. Although if you can find a good condition AKG K240 Sextett and buy a vintage receiver, you'd have the most enjoyable setup I can think of for under $300.
I thought the K518s are slightly inferior when compared to the Solos?

Beats are like Apple products, Overrated and Overpriced. You could find headphones with better sound quality than the Beats and save yourself well over $100.

Have you heard the Solo recently? Maybe I'm missing something. If the K518 is inferior to THAT, then screw them and get the KSC75. Or iBuds. Anything. I don't feel that I'm exaggerating.

The K518 is a bit better technically. And a modded KSC75 would give them a run for their money.

I've never heard the K518s so I wouldn't know. I could go listen to the Solos whenever I want since it's in my university bookstore.

If you have way too much money and you don't know what to spend it on sure, but most likely no they aren't worth the price.

Not necessarily. Apple products tend to have pretty good build quality as a main factor for people buying them. Beats aren't sturdy like that.
And they don't, like, suck.
